Abstract

Wind energy generation and its penetration with electric grid are increasing worldwide. Wind active power is
always fluctuating due to intermittent nature of wind causing power quality problems and stability problems. This paper
mainly focuses on grid connected wind energy conversion system for power quality improvement using efficient control
scheme of unified power quality conditioner (UPQC) based on SRF theory and instantaneous power theory is presented to
control active power output of the wind turbine, reactive power flow from grid side and regulation of the Voltage at PCC
of the wind farm terminals. This paper also proposes the application of a fuzzy controller based UPQC for controlling the
DC capacitor voltage under steady and transient conditions and compared with conventional PI Controller using
MATLAB/SIMULINK environment. Simulation results show that the effectiveness of the proposed compensation strategy
for the enhancement of power quality and wind farm stability.

This paper proposes a swarm intelligence method that yields optimal Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID)
Controller parameters of a power system stabilizer (PSS) in a single machine infinite bus system. Power systems will have
low frequency oscillations when it is disturbed. Without adequate damping, the oscillations may sustain and system
becomes unstable. To damp these oscillations power system stabilizers are used. In this paper, the development of an
intelligent controller in conjunction with power system stabilizer is proposed in order to maintain stability. The application
of the PID controller with PSS is investigated by simulation studies for a single synchronous machine connected with
infinite bus system. In this paper, PID controller is developed to control the system based on simulations. Tuning of PID
parameters is optimized by using Trial & error method, Z-N method and Particle Swarm Optimization technique. These
systems are implemented in MATLAB Simulink environment to analyze the performance of a synchronous machine under
various load conditions. Performance parameters such as speed deviation, field voltage, rotor angle and load angle of
synchronous machines for different optimization techniques are compared. The performance of the controller and
synchronous machine are analyzed by comparing the simulation results.

The purpose of this work is to study about work of shunt active power filter in reduction of current distortion and
for power quality improvement in electrical systems. In this paper, based on the analysis and modeling of the shunt active
power filter with close-loop control, a feed forward compensation path of load current is proposed to improve the dynamic
performance of the APF. The two H-bridge cascaded inverter is selected for the active power filter. A justification for
topology choosing and corresponding system control method is given. Furthermore, the global framework and operation
principle of the proposed active power filter are presented in detail. Simulation results verify the feasibility of the proposed
active power filter and the high performance of the control strategy during steady-state and dynamic operations with PI
control technique.

A new Bi-directional DC-DC converter is prescribed in this paper. The circuit design of the proposed converter is
unmingled and easy to control. A de-coupled inductor is used in this proposed converter with the same number of winding
turns on primary and secondary sides. In step-up mode, the primary and secondary windings of the coupled inductor are
operated in parallel charging and series discharging to achieve high step-up voltage gain. In step-down mode, the primary
and secondary windings of the coupled inductor are operated in series charging and parallel discharging to achieve high
step-down voltage gain. Thus, the proposed converter has higher step-up and step-down voltage gains than the
conventional bidirectional dc–dc boost/buck converter. The rated voltage of the proposed converter is lower than the
conventional converter. The operating principle and steady-state analysis are discussed in detail.

Abstract
| Pages: 171-178
The aim of this work is to develop a system hardware that can be used for analysis of orthostatic fluid shift by
postal changes. The methodology includes an injection of 800uA. A. C. current in to the body through proper placement of
tetra polar electrode system .Four surface electrodes are place either ipsilaterally or contra laterally on the right hand and
right foot respectively. Current elect roads are placed at the extreme end of body segment .The induced voltage (v) is
measured by voltage electrode s placed in between current electrodes on the body. That induced voltage depends upon
position of subject either in supine, standing or sitting which is related to gravitational forces. The total impedance(z) of the
body segment is calculated by measuring the amplitude of induced voltage (v) and injected current (I) Resistive (R) and
reactive (x) component are determined by measuring phase angle (Ø) between injected between (I) and induced voltage (v)
The conductivity of body segment depend upon the fat and body fluid. The fat acts as an insulator and other mass acts as
partially conductor depending on electrolyte contents. Therefore resistance (R) related to fat free mass and reactance (x)
related to fat mass. These resistance and reactance changes with respect to postural changes.8
We developed system hardware, which includes sine wave generator using microcontroller, power supply,
constant current sours, isolation transformer, comparator and phase sensitive detector. The phase sensitive detector consists
of an analog multiplier and low pass filter. The output of this is proportional to a cosine function of phase angle 8.The
resistive (R) and reactive (X) component of impendence (z) are measured for different Subject of different age height
weight. Resistance (R) and reactance(x) analysis can be done with respect to different postural changes and time which
show that how extra cellular fluid and intracellular fluid varies along with impedance to improve the reliability of bio
impedance data.

Abstract

We will presents in this paper the design and analysis of multi type of controllers (PI, FUZZY, NEURO- FUZZY
controller based on Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS)), and implement fuzzy controller practically by
using programmable logic control (PLC) via OPC server for Load frequency control of an hybrid system, this hybrid
system consist of an isolated wind-micro hydro-diesel hybrid power system, to regulate the frequency deviation and power
deviations. Due to the sudden load changes and intermittent wind power, large frequency fluctuation problem can occur.
This newly developed control strategy combines the advantage of neural networks and fuzzy control and has simple
structure that is easy to implement. So, in order to keep system performance near its optimum, it is desirable to track the
operating conditions and use updated parameters to control the system. Simulations of the proposed neural-fuzzy controller
in hybrid power system with different load disturbances are performed. Also, a conventional proportional Integral (PI)
controller and a fuzzy logic (FL) controller were designed separately to control the same hybrid power system for the
performance comparison. The performance of the proposed controller is verified from simulations and comparisons.
Simulation results show that the performance of the proposed of Neuro-Fuzzy Controller damps out the frequency
deviation and attains the steady state value with less settling time. The proposed of Neuro-Fuzzy controller provides best
control performance over a wide range of operating conditions , also in this paper we will simulate the hybrid system using
matlab and make data exchange between matlab and PLC using OPC server.

Abstract

The paper presents a scheme that is used to enhance the capacity of the PV cell along with standalone battery used
to feed the induction motor drive. The power capacity is increased by using 9-level inverter and its is almost equal for the
cases of Neutral Point Clamped Multi level inverter and Cascade –H –Bridge inverter. Since the power level remains same
for the above mentioned topologies, here main focus is on the THD content for the different topologies.
